ANTHONY & I DOING KARMA

HAIR at our house...lots of fun

MGC Productions hosted a star studded fundraiser to kick off our fight for LGBT rights through entertainment. The cast of HAIR performed beautifully for this event. The evening was hosted by Hair tribe member Anthony Hollock and Martin Gould Cummings who head MGC Productions.
Thank you to the cast of HAIR...MGC productions next event will be Broadway Speaks OUT on April 20th at The Duplex

Night of a Thousand Gowns aka gay tranny christmas

i went to the most fabulous event last night called 'Night of a Thousand Gowns'. 3 very amazing people and I ventured on over to the Marriot Marquee to attend this STAR studded event. how david,jo,sydney and i did not die from the shock of all the beauty in the room, or the famous people, or the drag glamor, or the pain of our high heels i have no idea!
this evening was GAY TRANNY CHRISTMAS!!! never in my life have i seen so many drag queens, and this was not your run of the mill lip synching gal with a package...this was a room full of true elegant ladies. ladies who give their hard earned dollars to good causes, ladies who design fabulous wardrobes for this event, ladies who gracefully walk to runway and show the world who they are.
the people who attend and sponsor, and make this event possible are true heroes to not only the gay community but to the world at large.
guest of the hotel kept looking on in shock as we mingled around but everyone held their head high. and proudly showed their craftsman ship for making such beautiful clothing and jewelry for the evening. if you get a chance look up the imperial court of ny and attend this event next year.
this years performers ranged from jackie hoffman to bebe zarah, nina floweres, rebecca glasscock, chris seiber, michelle williams of destinys child and many other very talent artist.
this night will truly go down in my mind as one of the most inspiring evenings i have ever had.
thank you imperial court of ny!

The Imperial Court of New York is a social, fundraising organization which has raised and donated back into the community millions of dollars to both social and health support organizations. In addition to their own fundraising, they often lend support and talent to other organizations in their ventures by performing, selling raffles, or just adding beauty and style. The mission of the Imperial Court is to raise funds for organizations including those supporting the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered community, HIV/AIDS services and youth enrichment programs. It was all started in 1984 by it's founder, Empress I Jose, the Widow Norton she declared herself, starting the long line of Emperors and Empresses since then.

Gay Dads On Birth Certificate

"Gay Dads Must Appear on Birth Certificate, Judge Rules
By Julie Bolcer
A federal judge has given Louisiana 15 days to add the names of two out-of-state fathers to the birth certificate of the Shreveport-born son they adopted.

U.S. District Judge Jay Zainey maintains that because the adoption by Oren Adar and Mickey Ray Smith became formal in New York, the adoption law of that state applies. Gay couples can list both names on their child’s birth certificate in New York.

Louisiana officials counter that under state law, two single people cannot adopt a child. The state is asking the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to overturn the ruling and to halt Judge Zainey’s order.

In addition, a bill prefiled in the legislature on Tuesday would make it illegal to create a birth certificate for anyone who did not meet Louisiana’s adoption laws. Only single people or married couples may adopt in the state."
-THE ADVOCATE

As someone who wants to be a parent someday I am so proud of this conservative state making this move.
Thank you Louisiana for showing the rest of our country that gay parenting is okay.
The state of Arkansas made a law this year outlawing such actions so it is a powerful stance for another southern to speak up and stand out for gay rights!!! woohoo

Ryan J Davis and Jeffery Self are both good friends of mine and I am so happy that they run this pageant. It is not only a great way to showcase broadway but it helps an amazing organization.
The Ali Forney Center helps the homeless youth within the LGBT community. During these hard economic times it is very important to support causes like this.
Thank you ryan and jeffery!!!

OOO and plus my partner, the love of my life, Anthony, is Mr. Hair...so keep your fingers crossed for him that night!!!

If you have the opportunity to attend this event do it! support a good cause!!!

RIP Natasha Richardson

From broadwayworld.com

A spokesman for the family of Natasha Richardson says the actress, who had been critically injured in a ski accident, has died.

Alan Nierob of Rogers & Cowan said in a statement Wednesday night: "Liam Neeson, his sons, and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time."

Richardson's family was with her at Lenox Hill Hospital, her relatives continued an emotional vigil by her bedside all day Wednesday before she died. Richardson was 45 years old.

Family members had gathered at the New York City hospital where the Tony-winning actress was taken with a serious head injury after falling on a Canadian resort ski slope.

Neeson had immediately left the Toronto set of his upcoming movie, "Chloe," to be by her side in Montreal, a publicist for the film said in a statement.

Nearly 24 hours after Richardson took a fall that a Tremblant spokesperson said looked harmless enough, media reports had varied widely concerning her condition with a few saying she was brain dead and one sadly claiming she passed away from her injuries.

Richardson was the wife of Liam Neeson, and the daughter of legendary actress Vanessa Redgrave. She had two sons with Neeson.

Richardson made her feature film debut as Mary Shelley in Ken Russell's "Gothic" (1986). Her performance caught the attention of director Paul Schrader, who cast her in the title role in "Patty Hearst" (1988), In 1995 she co-starred with Jodie Foster and Liam Neeson in "Nell" (1994) and, in 1998, in "The Parent Trap" (1998) with Dennis Quaid. Her recent films include "Blow Dry" (2001) released in 2001, and Ethan Hawke's "Chelsea Walls" (2001).

Natasha Richardson won the 1998 Tony Award for her celebrated performance in the Roundabout Theater Company revival of Cabaret and was also Tony-nominated for her starring role in the revival of Anna Christie. Other Broadway credits include Closer and A Streetcar Named Desire.

The New York Post's Michael Riedel reported in his 'On Broadway' column last month that the mother and daughter team of Vanessa Redgrave and Natasha Richardson had such a wonderful time performing in the Roundabout gala benefit reading of Stephen Sondheim's "A Little Night Music" last month that they were hoping to team up again for a full-fledged revival on Broadway next year.

All of us here at BroadwayWorld.com are deeply saddened to hear of the tragic loss. Our thoughts are with the entire Neeson, Redgrave and Richardson families.

Natasha Richardson

over the past few days every website I go on makes mention of the horrible accident that has happened to Tony winner Natasha Richardson. many reports have been made about her condition and what state she is in. this is sad and horrible news to hear, this beautiful, talent, young, and vibrant person has been affected by this tragedy.
pray for natasha, her husband liam, her mother vanessa, her sister jolie, and her children.

homelessness in nyc

so i have lived in nyc for almost 4 years now. obviously i have always seen homeless people here in the city but recently it seems you have to walk over them to get anywhere. this deeply saddens me as i think, isnt nyc and the usa the wealthiest place in the world? why then do i see homeless families on the street.
i will tell you why...we are in a mess of an economy and the government will not put the money where it needs to be.
our citizens are being thrown out on the streets due to lay offs and high rent and mortgage prices. we must fix this. stand up and help. these people need to be shown dignity and respect. help the homeless and combat injustice!

thats SO gay

michael buckley

borders bookstore thinks gays are sluts

by now you all know that i am obsessed with anything gay.
however, i live a very different life from what the media portrays to be gay. i am in a monogamous relationship and do not do the whole shirtless club party scene.
needless to say, i was in borders today and noticed that the LGBT section has drastically been reduced. no longer do i see books on marriage equality or stonewall but, rather, books titled "summer fling" and "gay erotica".
what has happened?
could this be why the state of oklahoma has a law making any book dealing with homosexuality must be placed 5 feet from the ground so children can not reach.
why does borders not have a selection of books that speaks of how the LGBT community is a united front of educated people who just want the same rights as other people. where are these books in borders? where are these books in oklahoma?
lets make it happen and get books that have more to do with sex and more to do with humanity.

valentines day

HAPPY LOVERS DAY!!!

what an amazing valentines day!!!
the day starting with a nice morning kiss from anthony.
we then moved down to union square where anthony and his fellow tribe members from HAiR sang some songs of love in the park. So much fun and peaceful.
this adorable girl asked me to speak at her high school about gay rights today as well...that was sooo incredible!
she is 14 and head of her schools GSA. hello 2009!
while in union square their were people giving "free hugs"...only in NYC. it was so sweet. people need to hug more often. do away with handshakes! give a hug!

and i am so happy to have that special guy in my life. valentines day is every day in our house. i love this boy anthony james hollock and am not ashamed to say it no matter what others may think!!!

PEACE LOVE HAPPINESS.

remembering lawrence king

a year ago today a young child was killed in his classroom for being gay.
countless videos have been made about this on youtube.
the comments posted on these videos make me sick to my stomach.
people saying that this child deserved to die.
what kind of a world do we live in where people think it is ok for a child, or anyone for that matter, to be murdered for being them selves.
wake up world...we are all peopl, are all human. stop the hate and focus on what matters...LOVE!

lea michele and peta

so anyone who knows me, knows how i am strongly against the horse carriages in central park.
i just came across an article by peta where broadway actress lea michele speaks out against the carriages.
thank you lea!!!
the treatment of these animals is cruel and horrifying.
what a relief to know we have people like lea speaking out for these creatures that can not speak out!
keep up the good work lea!

running around the playground

my day started off in a splendid mood.
for once those damn message boarders said nice things about my talk show! thank you! i owe it all to patina for that amazing interview.
well after all that i decided to go stroll around hells kitchen in the glorious spring time weather (lets hope it stays!!!) i had to be in the neighborhood cause i was meeting up with jeffery and cole to do a little video for their new show.
love those boys!
if you havent done it yet......watch jeffery self and cole escola on youtube!!! they are 2 of the funniest new comedians to hit nyc and they are super fun and sweet to boot!
what a treat that was.
well anywho i had to babysit today.......fun stuff.
all i can say is i got hit with a football on the playground and i remembered why i always sat in the corner at recess singing disney princess songs.

doma cafe and the people of the big apple

yesterday was such a hard day for me.
words can not even explain the funk i was in.......i literally did not leave me bed all day except to pee pee.
depression sucks.
needless to say i forced myself out of bed today and have had an incredible day.
i went to go to an audition........of course to many people there so i didn't get seen. this prompted me to walk from 26th street down to perry street to grab lunch at my favorite cafe, doma.
i don't know if you have ever just sat down alone and watched the people around you.
it is fascinating. i love it bc nyc is just a small town hidden behind the mask of a major city.
everyone knows everyone.
at least down in the village they do.
go to doma and just sit with coffee and eggs and watch the neighborhood feel. it is incredible.
i then walked from perry up to 49th street. this took me forever but i did it. on the way i just observed my surroundings.
looked at the people and how everyone is a different color, speaks a different language, makes a different and bold fashion choice.
this city is filled with people dying to just be people.
people who don't want to worry about anything but simply living life.
it is so beautiful and refreshing.
to walk from the village up to hells kitchen is like walking through time.
to see the changes in neighborhood feel and the changes in the people within those neighborhoods.
if you ever have a moment just walk through the city.
you will be inspired to be yourself, to live, to have freedom through the glory of humanity.
i love nyc and am happy to call it my home.

gay pride parades

my friend antwon my partner anthony and i just sat down to watch the documentary, 'gay sex in the 70s'.
well this is what i gathered...............gay men were soooo oppressed by society that they had to go to places in the dark..........back of bars, parks at night, or the waterfront to release their sexual desires.
today we live in a world where we can be more open and it is ok to be in a relationship.
today we do not need to go around hiding in the dark to express ourselves.
why then do we continue to strut around practically in the nude during our pride parades. if they are called pride parades shouldn't we be parading our families and friends who support us. shouldn't we parade the pride of being humans like everyone else.
why do we not stand up and fight for marriage and adoption rights? why do we have to have gogo boys dancing in the street.
if you want to be respected and to gain rights you have to earn them.
i encourage you to stand up like the men of the stonewall riots and speak out stand up but wear clothes why you do it!
we are a people of dignity and respect...lets show our world that when pride comes around this year!

maniston

jen and john broke up again...

when is saw annie

Annie-
I went to see Annie with my cousin for my 7th birthday! I was so excited. We went to the local community theatre to see the show. Front row seats. My toes didn't even touch the floor. The lights came up, the music started, I was amazed. These girls who were my age started dancing and singing. Singing about their hard knock life, and about NYC the city i only dreamed of living in.
I went home and sang 'Tomorrow' every day for a year! It was incredible. I wanted to put on the red curly wig and belt it out!!!
What I would not give to be an orphan girl on that stage.
It was the moment I realized the theatre was where I wanted to spend the rest of my life.

billy porter interview/sherry vine is glorious

so there is a select group of people in this world who speak out for their rights as gay people and have come out on top. one of those people in bully porter. through out his career billy has spoken very openly about being a part of the lgbt community.
for years i have looked up to him and admired his bravery. i recently read an article that billy wrote for the advocate that just spoke to me on such a human level due to its candidness and openness
a dream came true for me yesterday when i was able to sit down one on one with mr. porter and speak to him about his life, career, and influence on the lgbt world.
thank you mr. porter! you are a true hero and icon to millions of people!

on another note...i have formed an incredible friendship with the fabulous sherry vine recently. if you don't know who sherry is...learn! she is the most real person ever! her drag performances are hysterical and girl and i are riding out to long island tonight to party the night away with a bunch of hetero folks haha! should be a fun time :)

grassroots fundraising!

Hey Everyone!
so 2009 is going to be a very busy 1st year for MGC Productions.
We are currently working on the online talk show 'broadway speaks out' as well as bringing the show live to the duplex on 1/19. broadway speaks out will also be live at vlada night club on april 12th.
in march we will be producing the show 'midtwenties'. we hope to make this an open ended production in 2009!
mgc is also working on a christmas album featuring some hot talent!
the laramie project is still under way...working on getting the rights! hopefully that happens.
in order to do all this though we need help!
if everyone donates just $5 it will greatly help the company kick off all of our project!
follow the link and make a tax deductible donation!
much love xoxo
